(Early Tachinid Fly)

One of the first insects out in the spring. Often visit dandelion and common chickweed flowers.

The only known host is the caterpillar of a species of owlet moth (Noctuidae) in the genus Lithophane. – Kaufman p.310

Mating pair observed for a few minutes. Other males tried to join in. I scared them away while taking a picture. Not sure how long mating lasted.
