Phorid flies (also called scuttle flies, humpbacked flies or coffin flies) are a diverse group that are found nearly everywhere. But they are also quite small (0.4 to 7 mm), so they are easy to miss. I found my first one in a Malaise trap about ten years after I started the LQA project.
